Default Wrongful Termination at Large Company

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Michigan

I was working for a large automotive company until today.

I sent an email to a boss, who has stated clearly in the past that he has an open door policy, and we could come to him with any issues we had. I sent an email with my concerns that I wanted to address with him at a meeting. While the email was slightly abrasive, it was directed at the idea that there was a severe lack of communication. Two days later, I was fired. I feel this was retaliation for sending an email that disrupted the normal flow of things.

I have never been written up, have received letters of recommendation for a masters degree, and have had only positive PR reviews.

Do I have a leg to stand on here?

I have also saved and documented the emails.

No, you do not have a leg to stand on. Being abrasive to the boss and "disrupting the flow of things" are not protected activities under the law.

Contrary to popular belief, most "retaliation: is perfectly legal. It would be one thing if you were retaliated against for an action protected by law, such as filing a workers comp claim or complaining to the state about unpaid overtime. THAT would be illegal retaliation. "Retaliating" for sending a disruptive e-mail isn't even close to illegal.

It's not a wrongful termination unless there is a specific law which specifically prohibits the employer from terming you for the reason he did.

You can file for unemployment ins. It never hurts to file. The state will make the decision if you will receive benefits or not.

So the two things they read me as reasons for firing me.......I didn't violate any of those policies. Would that mean i had a leg to stand on?

For unemployment, yes. For a lawsuit, no.

You never told us what they gave as the reason for your termination.
