My case is very peculiar. I am a German citizen and lived in the U.S. for seven years with a Green Card (I was married to an American Citizen, now divorced).
I returned back home to Germany in 2005 and have lived here permanently since then. When I tried to enter the U.S. last August for a 2-week visit, my German passport was taken away by the immigrations officer, and I was given an order to appear. The German embassy got involved, and after my passport was not given back, they issued me a temporary passport so I could go back home.
I have tried everything humanly possible to clear this up, even wrote a registered letter to the judge who was over my case. But nevertheless, I was ordered removal.
I had no intention of staying in the U.S., and to this day, only want to visit. I have no criminal record in any country and am a professional musician who needs to travel a lot.
Is there a chance for me to apply for reentry (as a visitor) even before the 10-year exclusion period has passed? It's important for me to at least be able to transit the U.S., since many flights have a stopover in the States.
Thanks for any advice.
