    Default Landlord Video Surveillance

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the Province of: Ontario, Canada

Just a general question that should apply to both countries:

I have three rooms for rent in this house. Everyone that lives in the house shares a common area (Kitchen, Living room, front and back door). As the landlord and owner of the house am I allowed to install a security video camera for surveillance within those public areas mentioned above?

I was told that if I were to put a sign up saying that "This premise is under surveillance" that should be fine. Can anybody confirm this?

Laws vary from state to state in the US and from Province to Province in Canada.

US law and Canadian law are not interchangeable. Try here for answers to your query.
