Default Landlord Keeps Calling About the Water Usage

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Los Angeles, CA

The landlord keeps calling saying that our water usage is very high. The landlord pays the water, since there are 3 other houses that share the meter. But, he keeps insinuating that my household is the one using the most water. He keeps calling us each month saying we need to cut back or else... We got a plumber to come to our house to make sure that there were no leaks, and he didn't find any. I am tired of his accusations and his repeated calls to my house. Is there anything that I can do?

tell him to quit pestering you about this maybe?

you might want to suggest the LL install individual meters (not the official city meters). If he will not do this, you might investigate the cost and offer to have one installed so you can prove your usage is not extreme.

If water level usage is inexplicably high, the explanation is quite often a leaky toilet. Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank before bed (I suggest a color other than yellow. ). If in the morning the water in the bowl is colored, you have a leaky toilet. If the water in the bowl is clear and the water in the tank is clear, you have a very leaky toilet.
