My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: CA
I turned right out of a parking lot onto a 3-lane street- I turned into the far left lane as I was going to make a U-turn at the next streetlight. After completing my turn into the left lane, I noticed a police vehicle approx. 200 feet behind me that had its sirens going. Since it was coming quickly, I decided not to recklessly speed across the 3-lane street to get to the right curb. So, I SLOWLY made a left turn so I would be out of the way of the emergency vehicle.
About 5 seconds after this, a second police cruiser came up with its sirens and and pulled me over for failure to yield to the previous police cruiser. I attempted to explain myself and he proceeded to give me a field sobriety test as if to say "you want to explain yourself, I'm going to make this very difficult for you." Anyways, I signed the ticket and am wondering how to proceed- I did some research and found out this fine is about 500 dollars! Normally, I would admit guilt because I probably should have not made the left turn but rather just stopped in the far left lane, but for 500 dollars I feel like I need to put up a fight! If anybody has any suggestions about how to go about it, please let me know - it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much
