    Default SR22 for My Motorcycle

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Colorado

I am required to have an SR22 on my car insurance until 8/13/10. I just bought a motorcycle. Do I need to get a SR22 on that as well?

    Thanks,
    Tony

An SR-22 filing is related to your driving record & driver's license and not the type of vehicle you drive. So yes, if you get a motorcycle and are in fact licensed to drive it, then you must maintain an SR-22 for that as well.

Thank you for answering I just wanted to let you know or anyone else interrested that I called the Colorado DMV and they told me that I do not have to get an SR22 on my bike insurance.

They said that as long as I have it on my car they are happy. So just an FYI.

    Thanks again!

Thank you for the update... As I read my previous post I realize how I screwed it up... Sorry

The way I understand SR-22, is that it is filed by your insurance company with the DMV on your behalf. And since your insurance company actually insures you as a "driver" for specific vehicle(s) that you own, that means that when you call them to add your motorcycle to your policy, they will see that you must have an SR-22 filing and they will update the SR-22 filing with the DMV.

Please come back and post any info that you might get from your insurer.

    Thanks
