I bought my house in 2005. Before the bank would approve the mortgage, the roof needed repair. The seller was responsible to have the repairs done and hired a contractor and $6000 of roof work was done. Now the roof is still in shambles. We have had multiple leaks and my husband said that there are areas on the roof where the timbers are rotted - he can't even walk on some areas for fear he will fall trough.
I know that I have no cause of action for the original money, because it was not mine, but for $6000, the roof should be better than this!!
So, what can I do to see if the contractor did a substandard job? Can I make him give me the work records of the repairs to my roof and have another contractor see if that work was done properly?
Any suggestions are appreciated, again, I just feel that if there actually was $6000 of work done, I shouldn't be having these issues!!!
