My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
My roommate and I gave the 30 days notice on June 1st. Due to my job situation, I had to extend my stay for another 10 days. With an agreement with a landlord, I gave him a written notice of extending my stay until July 10th (10 more days to stay from the 30 days notice). He told me the amount of rent for 10 days I should pay. And I did on the 1st of July.
I received a closing statement that he charged me the rent of whole month, July. He stated that he charged from 11th to 25th of July. According to the law, extending the stay after 30 day notice requires tenant to pay the whole month rent. This has not mentioned when he received the extension of my stay for 10 days or the check that has the amount of 10 days stay that was decided by the landlord.
Can you please advise me?
