My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: New Mexico
I have unpaid medical bills (over $32,000) from a car accident in January 2005. These accounts have since been turned over to local collection agencies.
I understand that the statute of limitations on oral agreements is 4 years and written agreements is 6 years.
I know that I have written agreements with the doctors who initially administered treatment because I signed paperwork for the surgery. But I had no part in the transfer of the account to the collection agency. Does the six-year period transfer over to the collection agency?
