Default Shoplifting Case Set for Trial

    Alabama

    Background info:
Back in May, I was not caught shoplifting, instead was approached by LP in the parking lot but was let go not checked or anything- I was very confused. About a week later I received a letter in the mail- a warrant for my arrest. So obviously the LP wrote down my tag number and that is how they tracked me. I got a criminal lawyer asap as advised by many posts on this website. Court date wasn't set for months later (July 20) which just passed.

    Current Info:
My attorney went on my behalf on July 20th and got the case continued. I received a letter today for the new court date which isn't for another couple of months (Sept 30) and is set for trial.

    Questions:
Does anyone know the procedures for a trial of this sort? Is it like traffic court where everyone is waiting to speak to the judge and awaiting their sentence? Or is it like what you see on TV with actual witnesses and such? Also is anyone familiar with the process- will court dates keep continuing for months and months or will I get a sentence or decision on this date? Any advice or past experiences greatly appreciated!!

Your lawyer is the best person to talk to, the best person to advise you.

The question is: Did you do it? What is their evidence?
