Default Applying For Loss Prevention Job

Hello all, this is my first post here. I found you accidently while googling about "loss prevention"

Yesterday I applied, on line, for an LP job at a major retail chain store here in California. It's not Sears but about the same size.

I have some experience as a Security Guard and have my California Guard Card. I am short only a few credits of having an AA degree in Administration of Justice and worked some as a Campus Safety Officer at a local school.

I'm asking the LP people here what kind of questions might I be asked if I get as far as an interview for the LP job?

What other duties do you have besides watching for people stealing?

Are you told to stop and physically hold suspected offenders?
I'm 60 years old, 5' 2" in height and in good shape....but couldn't run down an 18 year old kid and sure as hell don't want to have to fight one..

How would you answer this question? (anybody can answer this one)
    ...."Why should I hire you?"

    Thanks for any replies.

You should hire me because I can plan to be one step ahead of a suspected shoplifter, I can talk them back into the building.

That would be a good place to start and no you're not too old but I've got to tell you it's a young mans game. I've been at it for some time and if you can think fast, plan ahead and be sure to have some back up, you'll do fine. We old farts need to stick together ( I'm 54).

PaulE was soome good points. Make sure you talk about safety. Retail companies loose lots of money from accidents, customer and associates. It' s not all about catching a shoplifter, it's a bout preventing losses. (Most of it's about catching shoplifters) If you can interview well, you'll be able to talk a shoplifter back inside witout getting physical. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies. I don't expect contact for an interview for a week or so, but I'll hope for the best.

I'm going to learn as much as I can about the company and it's losses and strategies for reducing those loses.

Thanks again and keep the replies coming.
