My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois.
What happens if a male older than 18 starts talking to a girl who says she is 13 in a chat room and nothing sexual is said. He asks if she has a cam or pictures and she says no, and he exits out of the message window, moving on from the conversation, but the "girl" talks to him more. The "girl" is invited to the webcam, and the male has given her his phone number after she has asked for it for phonesex. The individual is called by a private number and there is nothing said. IN the internet conversation window, the person on the other end of the conversation (the "girl") asks what the name is, if he has ever showed a cam to a girl "her" age before, and if his family knows if he tries to show things to an underage girl? Was there intent? Was he being set up? Was this a real police sting and can there be any charges on the male even though there was no mention of anything sexual, meeting in person, and no phone sex.
