Default How to get off on a shoplifting charge

got suspected of stealing from a meijer store. my friend told me that they hardly record the cameras to tape. so i plead not guilty.
if there is no tape then does a lps word enough to prosecute.

does meijers still have evidence such as items suspected of being taken and the tapes of the incodent.

im hoping to get off with a dissmisal because of insoficient evidence.

do they have to have all evidence such as security tags that are inside of the item and the items themself. ie. (fingerprinting)

what loopholes are in a retail fraud case?
has any one beatin one and if so how?

they handed no evidence over to police during detainment.

    what should i do?
the attorney said if i am found guilty then the judge will throw the book at me

    Default Beating a shoplifting charge

The loss prevention officer's testimony is sufficient to support a conviction.

If you go to trial and are convicted, it is possible that the judge would give you a greater sentence than if you plea bargain. I don't agree with that practice - what is sometimes called a "trial tax" - but the judge can do it if it is to punish your "lack of remorse" as opposed to your decision to go to trial.

The LP's report is all it takes to press charges against you. No video is necessary.

Trust me, most big stores who have their own LP departments know what they are doing.

Unless you DID NOT do it or you think they did something illegal to you, otherwise I don't see you having a lot leverage trying to find loopholes.

How much did they say you stole? Is it your first offense?

I have worked at two different Meijer stores and in the last two days of training with them they focus just on lost prevention. Your friend is wrong, very wrong they most certainly have you on tape. Good luck with your case.
