My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Miss.
I was helping my girlfriend move home from California. One of the stops on our trip back to GA was in Vicksburg. Miss at one of the Casino/Hotels. Not all of her items would fit in her small hatchback, so she had bought a roof rack for her car and a large cargo bag to hold most of her shoes and purses. When we came back to the hotel from dinner we valeted the car with the cargo bag still on top. It was well over 100lbs and had taken three people to load it on the car. The valet parked the car four spaces from the front door of the hotel, where you could see the front of the car from the front door. There were camera's in the parking area, one attendant on duty and another security officer driving the property in a truck. Sometime during the night the bag was cut off the roof and taken. The hotels insurance company is telling us that because the valet ticket says they bear no responsibility they won't pay us anything. The police officer told us while we filled out his report that this area is a known high crime area and the hotel won't give us a copy of the security video without a supena. What rights do we have if any?
She had canceled her renters insurance the month before because she was moving, so that's not an option.
