My question involves criminal law for the state of: new york
im 18yr old. i was caught shoplifting at sephora today. the PL officers / securities took me to their room, took a pic of me, the products that i've stole & made copies of my student id. i also signed 2 or 3 papers (1 for never returning to the store, 1 for admitting to the crime and for the civil demands.) the total amount was $255
later on the police came and took me to the station, got my fingerprinted and such. here's my qs:
1. around how much will the civil demand cost about? i did some research, some ppl say max of $500 but some said $1500. will the receipt of the $255 also be sent to me?
2. will my record stay there forever?
3. im in the process of getting my green card, will this affect it? will it also affect getting citizenship?
4. does the civil demand penalty depends on the judge or the store itself?
5. in the future, if i do get the green card interview / jury duty, do i also have to admit that i've commited crimes even tho it might be at least 3yrs from now?
thanks~
