Default Civil demand letter from the store

Hi...the civil demand given by the store...should I ignore it, I have read that sending them money is admission of guilt (obviously they have me on camera so I am guilty, but I think I should plead not guilty after reading so many posts on this forum). Also, do I get a public defendant when I am arraigned, do i have to get one by myself? I am so lost, please help

Paying a civil demand is not an admission of guilt to a criminal offense, but you can decide for yourself if you want to pay it before the criminal case is resolved. As you will soon apparently have a lawyer, this is something you can discuss with your lawyer.

You should get the opportunity to request a court appointed lawyer at your arraignment. If you aren't given the form to petition for an appointed lawyer, ask at the criminal clerk's office.

You can do what you want. If you choose not to pay the civil demand, though, the store may pursue a civil claim and it could end up on your credit report.
