Default Statute of Limitation on Collection Debt in Georgia

Does anyone know of the State codes in Georgia and if it is illegal to sue someone over debt that is over 10 years old? I had a Sears account back in my college days, 1994. The card was canceled in 1995. I thought I paid this card but have no proof. I was served on this account and want to dispute the validy of this claim.
I think this breaks the Fair Credit Act but need to find how and does the Georgia Statute of Limitation prevent suit on such an old account.
