Hello all, Ive got a large problem coming up in the next few months because the former owner of the apt. complex that I live in sold it to someone new and they told us that they will be increaseing the rent from 1350 to 1700 starting may 1st. Its a 16 unit complex in beverly hills adjacent(robertson/olympic area). I live in a 2bd/2 bath apt and its 1350 total for me and my roomate. Its a month to month lease. Hes lived there over a year, me about 6 months. His name is on the lease as the tenant and i am a subtenant i think is the technical term. The building was built in 1985 so I think rent control doesnt apply(pre1979 buildings only?) Please let me know if there are any laws/regulations that would prevent such an increase.
