Can anyone help me find a answer on my question?
The plain clothes' security men stopped me after I made my purchase and walked through the front door and hauled me back to the security office. He dug through my purchases and showed me a handbag had a price sticker of $59.96 and explained that I had changed the price tag on this item and that it was supposed to be $99.99.HE called police. I asked if they had saw the switch on surveillance and they said that they were following me and watched me do it and that they would have it on video too. Handbags have special security tags.He told me he didn`t see how I open this special tag,but he saw the switch. They never showed me any video. They filled out my info and told me I'd have to sign this statement. I was in tears and totally in shock and I didn't understand the statement. I finally asked what my rights were and what would happen if I didn't sign this statement. They said the police would be came and I would have a juvenile record, so I signed the statement as they seemed to suggest. I was terrified at the thought of I being taken to the police station. I asked for a copy of the statement I signed and they said I couldn't have one, which really makes me uncomfortable and makes me wonder if I've been duped. I was so shaken and upset that I don't remember what was on that paper. The fact is...I don't know! He told me it was kind of police record, but they would safe this statement in security office. They assured me though that by signing it, this situation stays within this shop and I will not have a police record or have to go to court. Before signing the statement, they told me I could never, ever any shop this name.Police came. They didn`t ask me almost nothing. They told me that I must say "thanks" to security for this statement and can go to home.My question:
Can they send this statement to police later and Can I go to court?
How long they would keep this record? All me life?
Can they charged a fine by something?
I live in state North Carolina.
