Unhappy Paying on Defaulted Credit Cards or a Judgement

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida

I have three credit card that are either defaulted or have a judgement. My exhusband divorced me two years ago with two kids and over 20,000 in debt. I was making a small amount of money as a retail sales associate and could not afford to pay for rent on a house and put food on the table. My exhusband has paid for my car and child support but it wasn't enough to pay the bills. I stopped making payments all together a year ago. I have defaulted on two credit cards and there is a judgement on another. I tried several times to work it out with the collections agencies and all of them told me that I needed to borrow the full amount from a friend or relative. They were abusive and told me flat out that I need to pay the full amount and no payment plan would be set up. I cried over the phone several times with them and they were relentless in their abuse. I lost my job on Oct. 31st, 2008 and can't find another due to my credit history. Most jobs do a credit check.
My exhusband has agreed to help me pay off some of the bills and I need to know how I go about paying on a defaulted loan and a loan with a judgement. I cannot pay the full amounts off, but I can make payments.

    Please Help!!!

With that level of debt, and no job, bankruptcy is a real alternative

Will this be better than using a debt consolidation service? I just want to make the right choice. Which is better to your credit score? I need to get a job and with the credit checks on applications it is very difficult.

Yes. Debt settlers only take your money, and leave you in the lurch. There are many posters here who have been scammed by those ripoff artists.

If you ave defaulted, your credit is screwed now for at least 7 years. With BK, you get a fresh start.

if you claim head of household they cannot garnish wages, the only real threat would be a bank levy, I would avoid using the bank acct as much as possible if you go with the judgment option, however you can pay them off quicker that way too, here's how... claim head of household, take money out of the bank and only use acct to cash checks etc... save up 40-60% of bal owed and make a lump sum offer... if you're not working though, the whole thing will have to wait,

don't worry, you can't go to jail for this.

I work for a debt settlement company and Divemedic... you're sadly, sadly mistaken... only customers that deviate from the program and "do things there own way" get "scammed" by being too stupid to take our advice and still pay us for it, furthermore she's say debt consolodation NOT settlement if you don't know the difference then there is no need to comment!... also Bankruptcy? WTF are you trying to do to this person?! they can't take money she doesn't have, there's no need for BK at this point, or any point if she plays her cards right. Also you do realize BK cost money too.
