    Default Credit Card Debts

i have 2 accounts with bank of america. one is a visa credit card that i've had for years, the other one is a line of credit from a company bought by bank of america. i normally do my bills on line. i made a payment for the line of credit then made a payment for the visa credit card almost a week later. unfortunately, i didn't realize at the time that i mistakenly made the payment intended for the visa on the line of credit account. so, the line of credit received a double payment and the visa didn't receive a payment. the bank did call me about 2-3 weeks later, but i told them i had already made a payment, so they seemed satisfied. i thought maybe the payment was slow in getting to them since i did it online. well, i received a letter about a month later telling me that my account was closed. i called them about it and, after looking back on my online bank account, that's when i realized that i made a payment on the wrong account. i talked to several customer service representatives, who were essentially no help to me, but found a nice one who transferred the money that was overpaid from the line of credit and put it towards the visa so that my account could be up to date. it was my error, but my problem is that the account that they closed was the line of credit, which is the account that was overpaid. they didn't close the visa, which is the account that was behind. how can they do this? no one that i talked to could justify why this was done.

Why wouldn't they be able to close the line of credit?

the line of credit was the account that was overpaid. i made the payment on time then accidently made another payment on the same account when i intended to make the 2nd payment on the visa credit card. instead of the company closing the visa credit card account, which ended up being behind due to my mistake, they closed the line of credit. why would they close the account that's current & overpaid and not the account that didn't receive the payment? at least one of the customer service representatives was nice enough to take the payment that was made on the wrong account (the line of credit) and transferred it to the visa credit card. i spoke to several customer service representatives, and no one could answer why the current account was closed and not the underpaid account.
