My question involves injury or loss that occurred in the state of: Georgia

My son was being cared for by a neighbor after school. The neighbor was being paid a normal amount for after school care. My son was in a very bad accident resulting in SERIOUS numerous injuries while under her care. The woman was clearly negligent. This was nearly two years ago. I have not filed against them as we considered them 'friends'. Medical expenses (out of pocket), even with good insurance, are approaching $10k and there is no end in site for at least the next 10 years with a lifetime of potential issues and complications. By son is having to undergo substantial 'procedures' every few months. Some have worked - some have not. This is a painful situation for him. Fortunately, I guess, most of the future issues will be cosmetic in nature. Function is good pretty good now. The longer this goes on, the more I am considering filing suit. The biggest question I have now is - what is the statute of limitations on this type of issue? IF it matters, my son was 8 when this occurred. Thanks in advance.
