This has occurred in Georgia, at a pizza franchise. I recently received a paycheck and was reviewing the stub when I noticed that under my hourly wages it had reported that I earned "$20" in tips. I thought this was an error, since my job was essentially to cook, and we do not earn tips. I wrote a note to my general manager, who I presume does payroll, explaining the problem. As I was writing it, my immediate supervisor looked over my shoulder and read it and said mentioned that she had a similar problem before and the manager at the time said there was "nothing they could do about it." This made me suspicious, but I left the note anyway. I pulled a few of my paystubs that I've kept and managed to come up with 4 consecutive ones (from the whole month of June) which say I have earned a 20 dollar tip each week. This is $80 which I will eventually be taxed on, but have not seen a penny of. I am now unsure of whether to confront my GM, as he seems the most likely suspect, although admittedly it could be a few other people. My question is what can I do about this? I would like to have it further investigated, but I do not wish to simply hand over my stubs to a supervisor who might dispose of them. I am going to make copies, but if by chance my immediate supervisors try to vouch against me, I need to know what my options are, so I can show them I'm serious.
