My question involves criminal law for the state of: VA
I made the huge mistake of shoplifting probably $30 worth of merchandise at Walmart. I bought a few things, and as I was leaving, the alarm went off. I stopped politely and let the greeter woman look through the purchases I had just made and she started talking about how some nice purses or wallets have security devices in them that could have made the alarm go off. I said it was probably my wallet because it was a designer wallet, and she nodded and said to check for the devices cashiers may have left in the merchandise and whatnot. I proceeded to walk out without her checking my purse.
I'm really nervous that they might go back and look through the tapes to try and track me down since I set off the alarms. How worried should I be? I know this was a horrendously stupid thing to do and I'm so scared...I'll never do anything like it again. it's totally not worth it..
