"Stop acting like an overwrought crybaby.

There are rules to be followed, and you broke a pretty big one - PAY FIRST. It's not all about you. It's about policy and procedure, and you violated them.

You screwed up. Someone yelled at you. Own it, and move on.'

That is all fine. However, I do not need to be treated like a theft/criminal. I showed manager on duty I had the soda. I did pay for it and even told the manager who hired me I did so. What bothers me is the fact I am beating treated like I actually put the soda in my pocket and walked out or I was a drunk driver or killed someone.

It has been 48 hours. I called my boss who hired me and he said he hopes to hear from HR by tomorrow or Saturday. Now, what should I do? He says he thinks no charges will be filed. What do you all think? Agreed? no record?

This Tuesday they suspended me for 48 hours. It now has been 72 hours and counting. Still no word- is this good news? I did show up to my job today and three well respected customers asked me where I have been. I told them all about my story and they said they'd speak to my GM. They said I am an honest guy who is so friendly

    It's still NO news.

We have no crystal ball here, and cannot predict what your employer will or will not do. All that's left for you is to wait.

At this point....and I don't want to sound negative....it may be a good idea to start updating your resume', and checking the help wanted section.

You may also want to get a free consult with a Criminal Defense Lawyer, who can answer questions for you.

It's nice that customers are going to bat for you....maybe you could ask a couple of them if you could use them as a reference in a future job search?

I would like to know if the soda was open or unopened when you told the manager?

if it was unopened and still in a state that it could be sold.
and the manager said OK before you popped the top.
in my opinion the manager "gave you a soda"
if it was unopened and you said some thing and they said put it back but you opened it instead then i may lean toward theft.

but not with the steps you took to not conceal the act.

The company I worked for is a joke!

I went into work yesterday to pick up my pay check. The manager on duty that night told me security, LP and HR has not spoken to her to get her side of the story. I now just called the manager who hired me and asked him if he heard what happend and he said kinda...........Kinda? give me a break. I have receipt saved, a document showing my side of story and the truth and I have their best customers standing up for me. I am losing $$$ and sleep over this. Should I bring a lawsuit against this place?
