My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Colorado
I am contesting a Red light Camera ticket I received for completing my left turn, from the right-most left turn lane of a two left turn lane intersection, after I was stranded partially into the intersection.
While starting to proceed into making a left turn, at an intersection, during a left turn green arrow, the vehicle in front of us suddenly and abruptly braked, leaving me no choice but to also brake and stop. This stop left the front of my vehicle stranded sticking over the crosswalk and partially into the intersection. During this very brief stop the Green arrow had changed to a yellow left turn arrow. Then the vehicle in front of us began to continue through making his left turn. As soon as I was able to proceed forward and complete my left turn, the left turn arrow turned into red arrow, and I was left with no other choice but to complete the turn. Of course, the camera flashed me as soon as I began to move forward. If I didn’t complete this left turn, I would have been obstructing traffic and creating a safety hazard, and it certainly was not an option for me to backup into, or hit the vehicles that were stopped at the stop block behind me.
I could contest this based on the photograph that is almost 95% glared or whited out showing the driver, but I would rather be honest about this and I feel I had no choice but to complete my turn.
I am not certain what the laws are regarding this. Do I have a good case/arguement for contesting this?
Thanks,
tptools
