    Default Shoplifting or Not

My question involves criminal law for the state of: wyoming

Im not sure if i should post because i have not been charged with anything but i needed some advice.I am sorry if i am posting in the wrong place

Recently i was visiting some friends in another town out of state and i was very intoxicated. I got a hotel room and went out looking for a vending machince to get some snacks. They had what they call a walk-in vending machine where you just pick up whatever food items you want and go to the front desk to pay for them. Me being drunk and not thinking grabbed a bunch of food and just went back to my room with it, not even thinking about paying. The next day i checked out and recieved a my bill for the room and it had a charge of $10 for "vending machine" which i think was for the stuff i took. They also gave me my wallet which i had left accidently in the vending machine room with my I.D. They didnt say anything more and neither did i and i just paid a left. They amount of food i took was probably $15-$30.

My question is that is everything ok? I think that if something were to be done they would have done it before i left and im pretty sure they know i took the food because of the extra charge but i paid it and nothing was said. Is this situation done?

If you were presented a bill for the items you took, and paid without fuss, and no further mention was made?

It's done. You're fine. Hotel personnel see drunk people all the time, and they're well aware that drunk people aren't exactly possessed of all of their faculties.

Had you been belligerent and refused to pay, you might have had some legal problems on your hands. As it stands, though, all would appear to be well.

Ok, thank you for your reply. I am not 100% sure that the bill was for the items (since I didn't really wanna ask) but being that I did not purchase anything while I was there (f/e ppv movies, room service) and I had already paid for my room I do not see anything else it could be for.Plus the bill was for "vending machine". My one concern is that the bill was for probably around 1/3 of what I took and I do not know if they know this or they just guessed an amount. I do not want them to discover their possible error and pursue me legally.Other people whom Ive asked for advice said that since I was charged that I have nothing to worry about, even with the error, and that it was probably best that I left my wallet there so they COULD charge ME. If not they may have taken a more serious action to find the stolen stuff. I kept the receipt with the charge on it. I figured if they were to do something I would have been woken up by the hotel manager and a PO that morning, not charged at checkout and allowed to leave without anyone saying anything. If I could, I would pay the difference but I have also been told that it could incriminate myself and it would be best if I just learned from this experience and move on. Any further opinions would be much appreciated and I thank everyone very much for this site and service. I'm sure it has eased many a restless mind.
