    Default Privacy of Inmate Mail Marked 'Legal'

    my fiance' is currently incarcerated in michigan, and the corrections officers opend his "legal mail" even though it was not being sent to an attourney, it was still a legal document that was being sent out to me. to be filed with the state of michigan. is it legal for them to do this?

    Yes. You're not a lawyer, and they can search his mail.
