Default How Do I Defer an Illegal Left Turn Ticket

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington

Location: Washington State, Pierce County, City of Gig Harbor

I was cited for an illegal left hand turn. It is a traffic infraction according to the ticket. The ticket is for $124 which I am not worried about. I am worried about the fact that my family just switched insurance companies and are on a probationary period. Where do I find the necessary forms for a deferral and what is the process?

I have a spotless driving record thus far. I'm 19 years old and have been driving just under three years.

I appreciate any and all help! Thanks in advance!

You must request either a mitigation or contested hearing. At the hearing ask the judge for a deferral. If you want more information, do a search on "deferral" -- you should find plenty.

I requested a mitigation hearing when I mailed in the ticket. I did some research and from what I found, you didn't even have to go to court to get it deferred. That was the case in Thurston county. I can't find the form online for Pierce county or any information. I'm not legally educated enough to find my way through the Pierce County Court website.

Some jurisdictions allow you to request a deferral by mail, others do not. Call the Clerk of the Court and ask.

If a jurisdiction allows you to request a deferral by mail would it be unacceptable to talk to the judge about it in court? I don't want to waste anyone's time and ruin my chances of keeping this off my record.

Thank you for all of your help by the way. It's very much appreciated.
