Default Alleged College Debt of Dropped Classes

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Kansas

I received a books and tuition scholarship for the 2008 fall semester which I completed. That scholarship carried over to the 2009 spring semester, however I only attended classes for 18 days and dropped all classes on the 19th day. The college deadline to drop classes without paying is the 20th day, however the billing office said scholarships have an earlier due date that is unpronounced in any contract/college literature. I have since received bi-weekly billings from the college for the 2009 semester, I feel they have no right to expect the student to pay for a semester not taken when they dropped the classes before the given date. I just need to know if I should somehow pay the debt, or get ready for the inevitable duel in the court system. Can someone please help.

Are you 100% certain of that? Have you asked the billing office to show you were the earlier due date is published?

I was told that the instructor who gave me the scholarship was supposed to write the date on the contract I signed, but when I looked at my copy it wasn't there.

Is there a blank line there instead? Please be more specific and quote your contract.
