My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

There is a lot more to this situation than I will put here. I'm not trying to hide anything and will be glad to answer any questions.

Just finalized divorce. Daughters 13 & 17 going to visit mother for first time in a year. Mother has history of screaming & insulting both girls, and kicking and hitting oldest daughter. (Mom is 'frail' and the real damage is emotional and mental).

Mom likes to push buttons and is very good at it, mom lies and is very good at it.

First week with mom, she wants 'revenge' for girls leaving with me and not wanting anything to do with her. Badgers my 17 yo daughter all day long about a bad grade. Allows other people at community theater to hear which greatly embarrassed my daughter. Mother keeps it up at home and starts calling relatives to tell them. Daughter tries to get phone from mom. Mom gets jostled and calls 911.

Police arrive and mom weaves a tale of being attacked relentlessly. Daughter denies striking mother and one of three officers calls her a liar. 13 year old was present and told police she saw no hitting. Police believe mom, have 17 yo daughter sign citation for 'assault with contact', then gives the signed citation to the mother. Mother won't let daughter have or even see citation until tonight, the day before it has to be responded to.

I am upset on many levels, but I just want to get the assault charges dropped so my daughter doesn't have a record for life (17 is an adult in Texas for criminal activity). What is my best plan of action? My daughter has never had ANY trouble before. She's never even skipped a class or stayed out past curfew.

I am in Nevada and frankly can't afford a lawyer after spending $30,000 on the divorce legal fees. Thank you.
