Default I Want to Live in the United States - How to Become a Resident

    Hello,

I am currently in the filing process of a work visa but the thing I was wondering is that If I deside that my job is suiting me and I enjoy living in the United States...Can I apply to be a Perment Resident in the U.S.? I am a Canadian citzen and truely all I want to do is LIVE in the U.S. Permently so I can go to work and have other opitunities, also my Girlfriend and her parents live in the States and want me to live with them cause they want me "Part of the family".

Can I go to a Immirgation Lawyer about this case? or can I do it myself...or...is it a NO?

    thank you.

    Default Dual intent petitioning

As described here, with what is known as "dual intent" petitioning, an H-1B visa holder may apply for a change in visa status or take other steps toward permanent U.S. residency without affecting the H-1B status. Most H-1B holders who wish to change their status will benefit from the assistance of a qualified immigration lawyer.
