    Default Boarder Income

Question probably applies to all chapters of bankruptcy. I am filing pro se in California. I have a boarder (not really a roommate, doesn't help with all expenses, never really here). She pays me a flat $300 a month to stay in my garage. She works nights, is hardly ever here and rarely if ever eats the food here (she has her own little fridge). How do I report this income? I pay the rent, utilities, food, she just gives me the $300. Do I report this as income, or do I deduct the amount she pays out of the amount I report I pay for rent, utilities etc?? Any help would be appreciated.

Rent income is income. You should be reporting it both on your taxes and in your bankruptcy.

Ewww! I have to report this as RENT INCOME on my taxes?! I don't own the home, I am renting myself, she just stays in my garage and gives me $300 per month for the privilege of having a dry room to sleep in! If that is true she is out on her keester! Good thing she hasn't been here long.
