Default Transfered License, Renew Old License => 2 Licenses?

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: CA

So I recently converted my CA license into a PA license, however my CA license is up for renewal in 2 weeks and I've already been sent the renewal paperwork. I was wondering if I would be able to renew my CA license so that I would have a PA and CA license - I spend time/do business in both states and it would be convenient to have a license corresponding to each state.

Would the CA DMV know that I converted/transferred my CA license to PA? Is there some type of national datebase where they'd be notified that my CA license was no longer valid due to conversion? When I got my license back from the PA DMV it had a hole punched into it however could I still renew my license in CA online?

Will I get in a lot of trouble for having 2 DL's? If discovered would they revoke both my licenses? What's the punishment for having two licenses? Would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks

When you surrender your license from one state in lieu of receiving a license from another state it means just that, you are surrendering your older license.

And yes, there is a national database for driver's license information as well as violation records but I don't know whether they keep track of how many licenses you have in your posession.

The point behind all this is that there are residency requirements for a driver to be able to have a driver's license from a specific state. While it is possible for someone to reside and or work in 2 states, legally you cannot be a resident of both.

A DL with a hole punched through it means it is no longer valid. So you need to contact the PA DMV to sort that out.

And I don't know what the penalties are for having two DLs...
