My question involves criminal law for the state of: Alabama

A little over a week ago me and a friend of mine were caught smoking in a parking lot. My friend got off completely free and I got arrested. I had about a half ounce on me at the time. I'm 18 years old. My court date is about a month from now. I'm just curious as to whether i'll be put on probation or not. This is my first offense. I'm also wondering how I would go about pleading youthful offender and how that works.

If you're talking about Ala.Code Sec. 15-19-1, relating to crimes committed in your minority but charged after you're an adult, from what you say you committed your crime as an adult.

Often courts have first offender programs for drug offenders. I have no idea what your record looks like, but it's worth investigating, particularly if you don't yet have an adult criminal record.

Odds are you will get probation.
