Default I Turn 18 in 1 Month and Want to Get Emancipated in New York

i know i should wait one more month but i have to leave now. i am going to be forced into staying home all day when i would rather be out finding a job. my parents wont let me go out because they know if i find a job i will leave. if i have a friend in new jersey who is willing to lie for me saying that i am paying rent would i be able to leave now before i turn 18? (one month till im 18) if i do leave and stay at my friends house would he get in trouble with the law if my parents try to bring me back? and is there a way to not get him in trouble if my parents do decide to bring the law in? i also just finished my senior year of high school

just wait. It is only one month and you could cause more trouble by running away than you avoid.

And New York does not have an emancipation statute.

And if it did, you would already be 18 before your petition was heard by the court.

And if you don't have a job, no court would emancipate you anyway.

Don't risk it. Until you are actually 18, and not one minute younger, your folks say where you live and can drag your little behind back where it belongs. And yes, if your folks choose to make an issue of it, anyone who lets you stay with them without your parents permission can conceivably get into legal trouble. The only way to avoid risking him getting into trouble with the law, is to stay where you are until your 18th birthday and not one minute before.
