Default F1 Visa at Risk - Won the DV Lottery

I'm currently on F1 visa in the US transfering to a grad program in the Fall. I completed OPT in February, returned to my college to take filler classes to remain in status, and have been accepted into a grad program for the fall.

I just found out that I was selected for the DV2010 lottery, but my case number is really high and that number historically has never been called for an interview or gets called in the very last month.

Here's my dilemma. I've been told by some people that if I start the process I will be declaring intent to immigrate and will put my F1 at risk if I don't get chosen for an interview in time before the Sept 2010 deadline.

So I'm wondering if it's even worth starting the process with such a high number, it's in the 70,000 range!

    Any advice is welcome.

Rather than risking your future on a free answer from a forum, I suggest discussing the details of your situation with an immigration lawyer.
