    Question Shoplifting Bans

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Pennsylvania.

So, I make a stupid move. I was caught while shoplifting $20 worth of groceries tonight. When they asked me to step aside, I did, and I went into the back room and willingly gave up my purse and ID and everything. They filled out some forms and said I would owe $150, which I will pay, and then they said I was banned from the grocery store.

I don't know how long I'm banned. Do bans get lifted? This is my first time ever and I'm not even sure why I did it. I can for sure say that I won't do it again, look at how bad I am at it! It was a weak moment.

Anyway, can someone answer my question? The reason I'm asking is because they didn't take my picture and I look not really like my liscence, but they didn't even copy that. Do they track you through your credit cards or something?

    Thanks.

Depends on the state. Many states require the ban notification to take place in front of a police officer.

    Depends on the store too.

I have been able to shop at Kohl's once, made arrangements on the phone with the Loss Prevention Manager. After that, couldn't reach him, but instead got hold of one of the guys who caught me, who said he would have be arrested for Criminal Trespass if he ever saw me in one of the stores he works at.

I did note on the Criminal Trespass Document from the store that I can contact the head of L.P. at the Corporate Office to see about lifting the restriction.

So once I am gainfully employed, that is what I intend to do, along with providing proof of employment.
