Default How Soon Can I Apply for a SSN After Entering the Country

    Dear All,

I am a foreign national and was in US on H4 visa(non working visa) so was not eligible for SSN.

I have now found a job in US and would be returing back to USA on H1 visa(work visa) which makes me eligible for SSN.

My question is how soon can I aplly for SSN after entering the USA. Can I go to the SSN office the very next day after entering the cuntry to apply for SSN or am I supposed to wait for few days/weeks.
    Please advise its urgent.

The process for application is here. You should expect that you'll need your passport, I-797 and your most recent I-94. The general suggestion is to wait at least ten days after arrival in the U.S.
