Default Getting Rid of an Unwanted Roommate

My question involves an eviction in the state of: Maryland.

So long story short, I live with my boyfriend and his roommate in an apartment. About 3 months ago, my boyfriend allowed his ex with his two kids to move in and take the extra room (she hasn't signed the lease). She agreed to pay portion of the rent/utilities, but has not. She does not make any money, so instead my boyfriend has been paying her portion plus his own. As of recent, my other roommate and I have decided we want her gone. My boyfriend thinks so too, but he fears she will take the kids away from him.

The lease is up by the end of this month. Since she is not on the lease now and practically does not pay her rent, would it be illegal to tell her to leave? And if so, when the lease comes up and the landlord (who we are good friends with) says she can't sign the lease, would she have to leave?
