Seems to me that as long as ONE of them is in jail, the problem will cease. If the husband wants to be the one to go, he can try to convince the DA's office to charge him for the false report instead of her for the DV. They may or may not go for it, but they DO understand that the very nature of domestic violence is that people will say just about anything to stop any REAL consequences from occurring to an abusive spouse once the regret, lonliness, fear of change, financial worries, and other factors come to the surface after the initial fray has calmed. Problem is that the system considers consequences for actions to be a vital part of the process, so they actually ANTICIPATE that most abused spouses will try to say it was a lie after the fact. They are experts at letting that line of conversation go in one ear and out the other. Given that these two apparently haven't learned to coexist without violence or police assistance yet, the DA has VERY little reason to want to return things to status quo. I'd count on them going after charges on SOMEONE here. The "which one" will depend on who they've got the stronger case against.
