Default Tax Sale Notice in New Jersey

I just bought a house in the month of march. Five months Real estate taxes were paid at closing. My second quarter taxes were paid at closing. Now I got a tax sale notice from township stating my second quarter taxes were not paid.

My real estate attorney says that the taxes were send to Township but they returned them. I find that weird. But when I call Township they say they never received.

What action can I take? I do not want a tax lien on my property because of somebody else's mistake.

Take this action: Pay your taxes.

My real estate attorney says that the taxes were send to Township but they returned them.
    That is an unsatisfactory explanation.
