My question involves education law in the State of: Florida
A father walks into the school building and goes directly to his son’s classroom. The father gets the attention of the teacher, speaks briefly to her, then brushes by the teacher and goes directly to his son. In front of a full classroom of students, the father begins an argument with his son. He then strikes his son and knocks him out. The father drags his son out of the room, down the hall, and out of the building. The whole class witnessed the incident as well as the teacher. The school district has a policy of maintaining safety (visitor’s policy) of its students through greeters at the door and a requirement of reporting to the office first before seeing the student.
What are some legal issues & any major case law that relate to this situation?
