This is for the state of Minnesota.
I was pulled over the other night while driving some friends home for having a tail light out. I had been drinking that night and I ended up blowing a .07. When I got pulled over we were right in front of our destination, but she still told me she was going to have my car towed, and that I was lucky I wasn't getting arrested and charged with DUI/DWI. She issued me an Under 21 Drink and Drive ticket and told me to call in the morning for what the fine would total. I called, and there was no record of the citation number on the system, I tried looking it up online to pay it, and the system still showed no record of it. That was on Friday. Now it is Monday and I checked both phone and internet again and there is nothing.
I read on the back of my ticket that drinking and driving tickets require court appearance and that a court summons would be sent to me in the mail.
Is that why it isn't in the system yet?
Does this mean that I still am being charged with a DUI/DWI, but she just didn't do it that night?
Is there a way to get out of the court appearance?
Is there anything else I should know about all this?
She implied to me that she was just issuing a ticket and I would only have to pay a fine. So this is very confusing and upsetting to me. Thanks for the help.
