You mean, lying to an officer to obstruct the officer's ability to carry out his duties? Yes, there would be a potential for that.

thankyou for your reply. ok, i was born jack , but i was adopted ,so now i`m known as jim. but i gave the officer (jack) my birth name when she issued the citation, now i want to go by my birth name, what`s to say i can`t use that name. becuase i don`t wanna be known as jim and i had no say in my adoption. Do you think there`s some legal standing there? thnx for understanding.

If you gave her a name that appears on a legal birth certificate then you are alright. When she wrote a citation did she ask you for an ID? If so and she wrote the name that appeared on the ID then go with that name.

Just show up using the name you gave and take care of the matter and pay the fine. If asked give your legal name and tell the authorities this was the first time you were asked you legal name then you cannot be charged with using another name.
