    Question Old Probation Warrant

My question involves an arrest warrant from the State of: IL

    Hello,
I have afriend who has a 10+ year violation of probation warrant. The original charge is felony possession. She is trying to finally clean her life up....i.e. in a treatment program. She cannot move on if she has this on her back. She also cannot afford a lawyer. I am wondering what her options are in the state of IL?

    Thanks

The warrant will simply hang out there in space until it is cleared up - meaning, until she is in custody of law enforcement who can then clear the warrant and get her in front of a judge. Working through an attorney can often result in a "scheduled" way for this to happen. Without one she can simply walk in to her local police department or better yet, her county jail and turn herself in. Better to do it early in the day on a weekday, so that she might see a judge the same day, and not have to spend the night. Turning yourself in on a Friday risks spending the whole weekend in jail waiting for Monday's schedule to roll around.
