    Question Guardianship

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Tennessee

I have a young lady who wants my husband and I to adopt her child once it's born but she does not know who the father is so I have not been able tofind an attorney who is willing to help me with this so far, I'm still looking. My question is, in the meantime we agree that it would be best for us to go ahead and get legal cutsody/guardianship of the baby. Is that the best way for us to go, baby is due anytime. Also what would be the best way for me to proceed with adoption?
    Thanks.

Without telling the father? As your lawyers have already told you, he has a right to know.

I was in a similar situation, I gave a baby up for adoption and didn't know who the father was. Check with adoption agencys in your area, go and talk to a counslor there and tell them the situation, some states do not require a birth father to sign. new jersey is one of those states as long as the birth mother writes a statement sayign that she doesn't know who the father is and why. for example, I only met the father ormy baby once at a party that was several hours from home and only got his first name, and also did not have any idea of how to contact him. and that worked for me, my daughter is in a safe and happy home. see if there is an ADOPTIONS FROM THE HEART agency near you, there should be, they are the ones that helped me. good luck
