Hello,
I got married and I took my husband's last name, but my green card application still has my maiden name as the applicant's name.
My lawyer says that the only way to change the name is during the interview, and my case doesn't require interviews because I am a nurse, and that I can change my name once I receive my green card.
I just wanted to make sure that the information he gave me is true. I posted a thread similar to this one before, and one of the law experts told me that changing my name should not slow the processing time, but I didn't get to further ask him how to process the name change...
Please let me know whether what my lawyer told me is true, any documents or forms I need to submit, or anything else I need to know about name change! I see that the processing time is a week past the day when the goverment received my application, but I haven't heard from the immigration.
Thank you!!
