    Default Civil and Criminal Options

I am currently renting a house from a couple who live 300 feet across the driveway. I have been living there 3 years. I am moving out next Monday-wednesday.
I paid no deposit. 3 weeks ago Mr. (about 65-70 yrs old) asked me to give him my Craftsman tool chest in exchange to fix the doors. I told him it was a Father's day present from my sons ...he told me to think about it. -No hand shake or any verbal ok by me, nor was any money exchanged. Last week I broke a crown off my front tooth and had to get money in order to get the tooth fixed. I sold the tool chest. Sunday, May 24th Mrs. came over and asked where the tool chest was. I explained what had happened. She told me that it was "pretty Shitty" ov me going back on the deal. I told her there was no deal. Mr. Milner came over and threatened to kill me if I didn't get the chest back. I reached for the phone, he grabbed me by my neck and tried to get the phone out of my hand. My girlfriend pushed him away. We left.

    What options do I have

You can file both criminal and Civil charges against him. It sounds to me that he can definitely be charged for assault. If you wish to file these charges, better sooner than later. Call your local police department to file a report and take pictures of any injuries you ma have sustained during the argument.

Why didn't you call the police right away? What other version of events do you think the other party might tell the police? I suspect that his account will differ from yours.

But, if you were attacked, you should speak with the police presently.

Keep in mind that the other person's version of the story WILL be different from yours. If he really is that old, he might say you attacked him. Then, you might be charged.
