On this day, May 25, 1787, the Constitutional convention had a quorum to conduct it's duly authorized business, to draft a foundation of law know as the the United States Constitution.

Meant to repeal/modify the failed Articles of Confederation, the Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, known as Constitution day.
Drafted and signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA., in Assembly hall/declaration chamber, as it has several names.
The chair George Washington sat in as President of the convention is Original, and most other furnishings are period pieces.
The Constitution is housed at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

In the Rotunda as you walk in to the center case, is the Constitution, to the left is the Declaration of Indpendence and to the right of the Constitution is the Bill of Rights, all 12 originally proposed Articles/Amendments.
Justice Souter is retiring, so under the Constitution President Obama has the authority to nominate his replacement, with the confirmation of the Senate he or she will assume office.
The US Constitution has endured since it's effective date in March, 1789.
The last 2 times I visited Philadelphia, I also toured the Constitution center, a MUST visit if anyone is planning a visit to Philly.

On my last trip to DC, I also drove down to James Madison's home, Montpelier, as he was the Father of the Constitution.
If anyone gets a chance in thier lifetime, visit DC and the National Archives to see the 3 most famous documents in history.
